Fairy houses. We started by trying to replicate a little village depicted in the book but we were short on rolly polly dew and silk worm hammocks. This is our version using pink paper cups and common yard weeds.

This is Isobel's little house.

Fairies! I printed out some drawings on card stock from the little book that I made for Isobel. We then printed out wings and cut them free and pasted them all together.

The next adventure will be to cook up some of the funny little fairy recipes that are included in the book. Then maybe we'll have a ceremony to join our favorite fairy and sparrow man in fairy matrimony. All bugs and nice critters are welcome to attend so long as they behave and don't start eating each other.

aww you are such a FUN mom! I need to get my fun back, thanks for reminding me
Wow your fairy houses are lovely! We try to make them but they look more like "fairy forts." I adore that fairy book, don't you??
I think it's "fair-y" to say that you are probably the coolest mom EVER!!!
sweetness cubed!
I SO wish you were my very own next door neighbor. ANYONE who understands that a list made by a basketcase simply MUST include requirements for man-button care should be as close by as possible. And then when you make wonderful little fairy houses and have The Edge as your guardian angel too, well you're pretty darn cool in my book.
Seriously cool.
what rad fairy houses...with three girls from 15 to 7 we have loved all things fairy for years. here are some books you might enjoy
*fairy houses everywhere~barry and tracy kane
*fairie-ality~eugenie bird
some awesome pictures
*the usborne big book of fairy things to make and do
lots of activities. my seven year old loves this book.(we also read diary of a worm for months)
you are a daily read that makes me smile. thanks
Wow - it is universal! Fairies are the favorite creature around our house. They have been for quite some time - and it would appear that they will be for a long time to come. Noni has announced that she and her sisters actually ARE fairies, that makes me the Queen Fairy. But not the Grande Queen Fairy - that's MY mom. Of course, you are the queen fairy in your family. We all get together, by moonlight, to cast spells on goblins and frogs, BTW. Oh, it gets complicated. But it's wonderful fun, isn't it. I wish that I was as creative and patient as you are. Thank goodness neither one of us has to contend with commercial fairies (Tink). That would not be as fun. I loved your photos. I imagine you two out playing in the fairy forest. Ahhhhh.
Lovely fairy house. I'm tempted to make them with the kids I work with at a women's shelter, but I many might find them "lame." Silly kids. Maybe if I name them "Super Hero Dudes With Wings Houses."
I came across your blog and had to post, as my last post was about laundry.
Fidget, ah come on. You are so fun! What about the beans?
Nice to meet you Meredith. Thanks for the nice words. We are so going to make some fairy forts now!
Kalurah, you say that with so much confidence and passion that I almost believe you: )
Patti, you, are sweetness cubed.
Hear me Roar, you just made me feel like I was voted homecoming queen or something. Man-buttons, got to keep em' clean!

Dirty bird, nice to meet you! Seriously, thanks a ton. Can't wait to go check out your site: )
Ahna, you guys sound like so much fun! As for the patient part, it depends on the day sister.
Hadley, so nice to meet you! Thanks for stopping by. You'll have to let me know if you make those Super Hero Dudes with Wings Houses!
