When "Art" and I broke up we had to go through the messy process of deciding who gets to keep what and who gets to claim what friends. We settled on a one to two year agreement that would allow me to continue with Chirp until December. In that time I will take Chirp to a few more fashion shows to try and sell off the remaining inventory. After that it's all his for the next couple of years. Is it getting creepy yet the way I talk about art? Anyway, I attended one of those fashion shows last night. Last night was just one of the many events being held by
WearHaus and
Rush Publishing for the Kansas City Fashion Week. It is a week long event that includes seminars by professional Hollywood Costume Designers, opera singers, fashion shows, live performances, fashion meet & greets, fashion markets, after parties, and dance performances. Lots of fun. It was an interesting and fascinating night. I opted out of the fashion runway and just signed on as a vendor. I really don't know how I found myself in this world but man it's fun.
I took a ton of pictures and realized that posting fifty-something photos here would be overkill. So I have finally signed up for a Flickr account! I'm posting a few of my favorites here just to get you interested to check out the rest.

Go check out the pics. Discuss and leave some comments. If you have a Flickr account and would like to be one of my very special contacts or vice versa just shout out a howdy.
Chirp will be attending two more Urban Bazaars
this year. Whatever I don't sell I'm going to put over in my Etsy shop or offer up right here at I Hate Laundry. So stay tuned for all that jazz. Oh, and everything will be on SALE!

Awesome post and photos. I hope you don't mind that I linked.
Yay, Yay!!
you're finally on flickr! it's something I try to get ALL my friends to succumb to but some people just won't give in.
I'm gonna mark you as a friend and you better do likewise, missy!

I'm headed over to yours right NOW!!
:)
Ahhh! (I am running around my house with my hands above my head, giddy.) Ahhhh! I love your art/design stuff. I'm glad to see it all in one place. I loved the funky, tatoo'd, punky, grungy theatrical line in the fashion set. Totally cool. And I loved that the models were a.) adults and b.) normal sized people. totally, totally cool.
*that was my "it's Friday and I'm young and hip and cool. Listen and I'll prove it to you while giving away my age and unhip uncool teacher-ness by using too many totally's and too many cools*
Now, I am moping around the dining room. I can't figure out how to set up a flicker acount.
I suck. I am not cool. I need a beer. TGIF!
Oh, I love fashion! I miss my days as a fashion student at Parsons in NYC and in Minneapolis. I miss the hum of classrooms filled with sewing machines and steam presses. Finding pins in the bottom of all of my pockets. Jabbering with my friends and colleagues while we cut and pressed and stitched, and sharing good cusses while we ripped out seams for the hundredth time. The fashion shows were some of my favorite times. Just looking at your photos gave me a swirling feeling in my tummy - that excited fashion show feeling! Your stuff is great! Thanks for reminding me of all of this. And...even though you're broken up with Art and all, it's probably okay to drop in once in a while for a little hanky panky.
Those models are quite fat compared to the ones I saw last night!
